Pocket Reduction Surgery
Reducing pocket depth and eliminating existing bacteria are important to prevent and repair damage caused by the progression of periodontal disease. During this procedure, Dr. Robles gently opens the gum tissue and removes disease-causing bacteria and calculus (tartar) that is attached to the tooth and causing the disease. Excess gum tissue is also removed and reshaping of the infected bone is completed before securing the tissue in place. This allows the gum tissue to better reattach to healthy bone and tooth, and reduces the pocket depth, allowing access for maintaining oral health with your toothbrush, floss and other oral hygiene instruments.
